These next few features are for the talented photographers who took part in and won prizes in ~LadyEdana's "Grace" contest.


The first photographer I am featuring is , who upon inspection of  his gallery has proven to create dynamic, expressive images and makes very wise choices regarding color and angle.

These are my favorites from his gallery:



It is very difficult to choose any one favorite image, but I think it's a tie between 'Lora' and ' Lightning Studies'.  Sometimes photographers forget the value of the only thing that matters in photography: light. Not the case here. Excellent use of contrast on the one, and natural light on the other.

The second photographer I am featuring is whose winning image won over the masses in the community choice arena. His images are sharp and clean, and abound with color and creativity.

While there are many bright and colorful macro images that are clearly this photographer's forte, his deviation "lonely" is one image that truly speaks out loud to me. *see footnote

* Please, if you could, pray for my Grandmother. She is the dearest adult in my life to me. Her bypass surgery has failed a second time. I'm not ready to lose her.  (of course, no one is ever ready to lose someone dear to them.) She's a fighter, like me. But everyone gets tired of fighting eventually.

You give them an idea and a nudge, and they ASTOUND you with results and their level of dedication and participation and SO! I wanted to share our collaboratory efforts in regards to the last journal I posted.

    It's been  a little while since I've updated my journal. I'm still here and stuff, just a little overwhelmed. Planning weddings just sucks so much I can't even explain it. (We're trying to pull of an entire wedding for 3k. I'll let you know how that goes)  There are a couple of interesting things in my little agenda to do before the end of summer that don't involve pulling my hair out and frightening the wildlife...

1.) I have several purposes that drive me around in life, and one of them is spreading irritation a little bit at a time. So here's my very teensy, very spastic blow up: what is WITH all the cutesy fairies?? Not just on dA...I mean..everywhere! Last I checked fae were kinda bad news...especially if you pissed them off. People seem to have this obsession with (and its fine and all, just...remember there's a coin, and it has more than one side...) finding a beautiful female or male, and turning them into a fae by playing with their hair and slapping some bish wings on them. I'm sure we have Amy Brown to thank for their striped sock fashion sense too.  Hey--that's cool. I've even done some stripey socked fae stock. But I am seeing a severe shortage of the mythical fae too. (Many sprites, and too little of the bad-news sidhe) Get what I'm sayin? Everything has a light side, and a dark side, whereas the sidhe are somewhere in the middle of that. Sirens can be both deadly seductresses AND helpful fishfolk, and trying to embody this dichotomy in art can be an exciting challenge.
So. Because I happen to verymuchenjoy *and respectfully fear*  the sidhe and all of the little things that go bump in the night, you can fully expect some darker stock coming from me in the future. (As if the Bean Sidhe wasn't enough, right?)
You can be excited about that if you want, or just hope I take my meds.

Still. Here are some of the very few deviations I have run across that, for me, express everything that I fear and love about the sidhe: their dark, their light, and everything in between that makes them so mysterious:



If anyone wants to show me their work in this category, I'd love to see it. (I was kinda sad to see that many of the bean sidhes on dA are because my stock is in it. 0.0)

Aaanyway. I'm going to be off for a week or so, probably wandering around up north and some kind of marriage bootcamp reminder.

This journal is a bit out in left field, but I was inspired by reading the journal of and he raises an interesting point.

Here we are, taking hundreds upon hundreds of pictures, right? For stock or...just regular pictures...and we're all wandering around outside in ancient ruins or in burnt out houses or in abandoned towns out west.

My question to you is, have you ever caught anything decidedly supernatural? And if so, have you uploaded it where we can see?

I'm not talking about orbs in pictures. I actually used to spend a lot of time on the T.A.P.S. forums debunking or explaining pictures. Working in a photolab gives you a decent understanding of what's normal, and what isn't.

So, some other questions for you are: do you believe in ghosts? Would you like to share a story? Perhaps a theory? I'm welcoming all perspectives, and if enough of you have some stuff to show me, or stories to tell, we'll make something out of it.

The only thing I have that's close to paranormal was this photo (there were others in the series that I took of this same fire throughout the night on Beltane, and ALL of them had skulls or faces in them )

Something big, and new, and kindof exciting.

As many of you know, here at lindowyn-stock we are all probably the biggest nerds on the face of the earth.

Scratch that, I know bigger. But still, you won't find many that are more varied in their nerd-dome, and not many that are quite as creative.

Soon, we are running a contest for all of you Geeks out there to benefit from.

That's right. We're celebrating the possible publishing of our RPG, "S.H.A.R.D.S."  that we have all written together, over the course of 3 years. We are going to offer some seriously exciting prizes, and we think you'll like the theme.

WARNING: The road ahead is paved with sarcasm.

...that is...when he/she/it got around to it, God created a few good doctors, and accidently left the Doctor Creation Machine (tm) running, while he/she/it decided to fancy some ambrosia and take a lovely end-creation nap.
   The first few sat and pondered how they could remain visibly useful, and hoped that their actual knowledge of medicine would get them through, and still draw patients. In the meantime, the charlatans were wrecking house: tearing down curtains, letting patients go untreated, and frightening the cats. They scared all of the other patients away from them, once those people realized that these were not doctors: They don't even LISTEN to you. Soon, no one could get any medical help at all, because all of the Good Doctors were overrun. Waitlists grew and grew, until finally the Good Doctors died of old age. Another phenomenon occured: with no good doctors left, they mused, we can run things our way and get away with it. Their grand scheme? :

We Shalt Treat Every Patient In Direct Accordance With The Expanse of Their Wallets!

It was a fabulous idea.

Almost.

But seriously, who do you have to blow in this country to get a doctor that listens?

I don't mean to be hatin' on doctor's so much, in fact, I have family members that are. I'm just fucking sick of the run-around I'm getting. Don't they realize that people are mortal, and sick ones even moreso? I threw in all of my dice hoping that of all places, Johns Hopkins would have some  high quality doctors.

So why the hell won't they listen to me? Why doesn't ALLERGIC mean ALLERGIC to them? Will they believe me when my throat closes up and my face practically explodes again, and have to spend the rest of my life with an inhaler when I never had asthma to begin with? Would this make them satisfy their curiosity?

It's coming down to this: I'm finding my own damn cure (because 1000 bucks a bottle for immune globulin I AM ALLERGIC TO is a touch to steep for a student with limited health insurance, much less a bottle every four weeks) or I'm dying young. Not by choice, either. Pardon me for not having faith. I had hope, and I lost it this morning.

No, I don't think ranting about my medical history in a journal on deviantart is going to be necessary. But I do think that expressing frustration on something that affects many of us on here may help me feel a little better knowing that other people are going through it too. Suffice it to say this: I am chronically ill, and have been since the day I was born. I will never be healthy, and I've accepted it. There is no sense in new doctors getting my hopes up over something that has been ground into fact. But, while they are dicking around, jacking up my bills,  I'm getting worse. One of FOUR tests alone they did when drawing my blood costs 197 bucks by itself. Not counting prescriptions, visits, or anything else. I have insurance, but it's a very small co-pay. I never thought I would have a rant in my journal here, and have made a concerted effort to be drama-less. I apologize, but I'm mad as a hornet.

The point of my saying so is this: I'm tired. I'm frustrated. And I'm trying to find a solution, and can't. ~TheArcher777, ~glttrbmbshll and ~frrsty Are coming down tomorrow, and we'll likely be shooting more stock, and regular photography. (gasp!) But, we are headed to the beach for some stress relief (HA!... we'll TRY anyway) so I might not be around here often in the next week or so. Please, be patient. I'll probably delete this journal later.

Lately, it has come to my attention that many of my watchers really have no idea who I am, or are in a constant state of confusing models and whatnot, so I thought I would do an entry that features my favorites of each model and who they are, and why they are awesome.

(I am also on a pirate kick lately, so don't mind me.)

Therefore, I give you our most seen models, and the characters they've portrayed.


A driving creative force in my life as well as my stock gallery, has been a never tiring source of support and friendship. She is my real life best friend and fellow theater major. Her gallery is definately worth a look, too. If you were to ever read a headline about two girls taking over the world, it'd be us.


My roomate, and also my adopted brother is best known for his courage and ability to take on many different sorts of characters. Normally a quiet author, he really knows how to act for the camera.



My fiance, Bill: the literally bottomless well of love and support through all of my hard times and darker days actually hated having his picture taken until he met me. Times, they change.



and are fantastic friends of mine. We've been through some interesting times, and will go through even more when they move down to Maryland in a year or so. The two have been together for about two years now, I believe.


Spends way too much time at work these days, but when she does get a free moment, we're usually up to no good with some project or another. She was also active in the theater at Salisbury University, where we met. We are both well known for our random road trips to "nowhere" which usually mean "ocean"


Partners in crime is a good way to describe and my relationship. Together we have wreaked more pain and havoc down on roleplaying groups than should probably be allowed. We really do think alike, and since finally meeting each other 3 years ago, it's only been up from there. His fiance and I have almost matching rings, even.



Put simply, all of my friends are dear to me. They might be models to the rest of the world, but to me they are my family and my foundation in this world. is one of those friends that is like the cornerstone. A mother of a beautiful baby girl, and wife to an awesome guy, her most admirable traits include that of steadfast dedication and understanding. She's always there when you need her. The Lowe Family:

I couldn't talk about my family here without mentioning the only model in my gallery that is related to me by blood: We grew up together, and I remember being 6 and helping feed her baby oatmeal, and have watched her bloom into the beautiful, strong young woman I am very proud to know. (P.s.: the hunk she's attached to is her boyfriend, ~residentboone)

A talented and creative costume designer and seamstress, met a few years ago on the internet through two of my other above friends (~TheArcher777 and ~glttrbmbshll) She is still available for costume commissions, so  if you have the time and cash to spare, I recommend her. She, also, is a theater person. The other girl is her younger sister, Allie.  

If you don't already know who I am by now, I'm the blonde that never seems to look good in anything, but has no shame nonetheless. Still, there are a couple pictures of me that I think are pretty cool. I am

News from the troupe at *lindowyn-stock

We gained a new model! All of you guys go and give a warm welcome to a great model, and an all around fantastic guy: ~residentboone He takes care of my wee sis, ~PsycheOfAtrium Welcome, Ben!

Not to be confused with the OTHER Ben ( ~Zulias ), whom will be modeling with me tomorrow, and going to see Pirates 3 with me, so no doubt this will yeild something amazing. He FINALLY has some modeling pics that I took in his gallery. Check him out! And pester him into adding some of his writing.

We also had a guest model! Amber of ~Mommynme-stock will be appearing in our latest stock as one saucy pirate wench. Many thanks to her for putting up with my fiance and I for a night, and for having the most awesome floor fans ever. I'll post them soon.

If anyone is REALLY bored and feeling generous, feel like helping me make a new CSS? I feel like I'm having a Keanu moment in this one.

Yet another story-Chapter 2Chapter 2: Home
The city of Shri'al laid at the shore of the Hawkcliff Sea and shone for John like only a man's home can.  He could see the great spires of the Diamond Fortress with its banners snapping in the wind.  The Tower of Flame rose high above, lighting the way for all ships upon the sea.   Great ships moved through the sea, looking to Shri'al for port and trade.

The city gates opened as the army approached.  Within had gathered much of the citizenry to welcome them home.  The army marched forth with polished leather and gleaming swords.  At its head was the Prince and John riding just behind.  The people cheered for them as they Feral Faris looked at the cell door.  It was three inches of soild steel with a bullet proof reinforced window as the only way to look in or out.  There was a warning on the door.

 Feral vampire.  Use Extreme Caution At All Times.  No Entry.

The doctors had looked at him like he was insane.  The vampire was restrained, but still dangerous.  She had massacred five people before they caught her.  Two orderlies had been hospitalized since she had been secured.   Faris was insistant.  He was always insistant.

He looked into the window.  She looked a pitiful sight as she was.  Red hair in disarray, torn out in some places.  Her head was bowed and

Where the hell are ya?? We need more male stock! I would love to lure you all out of hiding with food or something, but I doubt it would work. So here's how its going to go.

You open a stock account with the following stipulations:

-High resolution
-well lit, self timed, full body shots
-MALE stock (you can add the goils later)


You must meet each criteria. 5megapixels or better in the highest resolution available. If you do this, you get access to my exclusive stock. That is, stock I am about to upload that other people must either win or purchase, and those of you that get this rolling before June 13th (thats your deadline) have access to that.

I know you have it in you guys.

Now girls, this doesn't mean I don't love you. But I'm sure you can agree we are seriously wounded in the search for male stock.

Oh! And it doesn't end there.

There is a FULL BLOWN MALE STOCK CONTEST going on. This is an excerpt from the journal of our dearly beloved Action Stock Guru, `jademacalla :

Inspired by ~SNAK-stock's recent tirade about the relative nonexistence of Male Stock here on dA (with a few great exceptions, of course; you know who you are) I have decided to hold the First Annual Awesome Male Stock Contest!

The one main rule: The contest is only open to female stock artists, by which we mean a female stock artist portrays a male. Of course, brand new stock artists are welcome.

Here's your chance to show us outnumbered XY stock artists how it's done; to inspire those of us who already do stock, and hopefully to goad some new talent into the ring.

A couple other minor rules for the contest:
- Any female stock artist can enter as many times as she likes
- Entries must be new, original stock photos
- I think that's it

Judging will be based on:

- I cannot tolerate being sticky. I run from things like donuts if I think they are going to sticky me. I eat oatmeal with my hair pulled back so it doesn't get sticky.
